Renewable energy - Argumentative Essay

Fossil fuels has always been considered as one of the most essential energy source of our social development. However, over the years, human had developed a lot of energy resources which are better than fossil fuels. Can fossil fuels still replace these renewable energy resources? Personally, I think fossil fuels can never replace renewable energy.

To begin with, renewable energy is more environmentally friendly than fossil fuels. For instance, wind mills will not emit pollutants while burning fossil fuels does. Instead, windmills does not require burning any resources to generate it, it generates itself by natural wind. Moreover, the destruction of marine habitat due to leakage of fossil fuels are severe. According to latest figures, almost 93% of reef in the Great Barrier Reef have been bleached out, which threatens the habitat and marine life tremendously. Therefore, human developed renewable energy resources not only for the environment, but for the sake of insuring human can have a cleaner and brighter environmental future.

Another reason why renewable energy is better than fossil fuels is that they can be long lasting. Renewable energy such as solar panel is one of the example, it is provided heat energy from the sun which is consistent and steady. Heat will then transfer into electric energy. While renewable energy seems to be long living, let us look back to fossil fuels, they are formed by fossilised remains of organisms, which must exceeds millions of years to form. Human had mined and drilled fossil fuels for a long time, and its amount has been shrinking to an alarming situation that energy crisis had already started in the past years.  As a result, fossil fuels are not as reliable as renewable energy.

Some critics may argue that renewable energy do not provide enough energy to support the whole world, as they are not cost-effective. It may be true that some of the renewable energy are not cost-efficient, but the renewable energy technology are growing rapidly, which means efficiency of it are improving. The above question will solve in time.

To conclude, fossil fuels have less points to ever replace renewable energy, but strongly feasible vice versa.
